Information Officer for LOCAL COUNCIL-Fulltime

We are currently looking for an Information Officer on a temporary full-time basis working  Seventy Six (76) hours a fortnight Monday to Friday.  This temporary assignment is to cover a long servicing Officer who has retired. Initially 3 month contract - with possible extension for the right candidate.Must have previous relevant experience in a front-line customer service position, preferable with in the Local Government realm and needs to be able to hit the ground running. This key customer service role assists in the provision of information to the public on all functions of the City, including matters relating to Planning, Building, and Health, and responding to routine telephone and counter enquiries politely, efficiently and promptly, and must meet the essential requirements of the position as noted in the attached Job Description Forms (JDF) with a strong emphasis on the following:Duties Include:Ensuring people who request information are given a high level of customer serviceMaintaining adequate stocks of all indexed informationLiaising with appropriate representatives of all the Divisions of Council to maintain an up-to-date knowledge of various Council activities.Undertaking a range of administrative duties for the Planning, Building and Health & Community Safety Departments, including registering and recording.Essential:Previous relevant experience in a front-line customer service position.Well developed interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to communicate with a wide range of people and groups to ensure delivery of a high level of customer service.Sound numeracy skills, with the ability to apply good attention to detail and complete duties to a high level of accuracy.Sound written communication skills.Good organisational and administrative skills, with a proven ability to effectively prioritise tasks to meet strict deadlines.Ability to work effectively both as a member of a team and autonomously, under minimal supervision.Ability to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential matters.Ability to utilise personal computer applications and in particular, the Microsoft Office suite of products (i.e. Word, Excel) and experience with computerised accounting systems.Possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).Successful applications will be required to undergo a pre-employment medical including a Drug & Alcohol Screening.Only successful applicants will be contacted.
