Technical Officer – Construction – Local Council

Our client is a Local Council located North of the River, and they are seeking an experienced Technical Officer - Construction, for an immediate start. This is a temp assignment and is contracted until the October 2019 with possible extension. As part of this role you will be responsible for assisting the Engineer in onsite technical and project management support, and the provision of project based estimated, schedules, research, risk assessment and reports.To be short listed for this role, you will need to meet the below criteria;  Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related discipline or demonstrated equivalent experience/competency in civil engineeringMinimum of Basic Work Site traffic management certificateStrong results oriented coordination, planning and organisational skills in order to meet varying deadlines without supervisionKnowledge of road construction/maintenance, road resurfacing and rehabilitation work (including contractor/contract supervision)Numeric skills enabling calculation of quantities, project costing, volumes, survey applicationsWell-developed interpersonal skills, relating to verbal and written communication, negotiation, instruction, dispute resolution, liaising with the public and the provision of technical adviceAdvanced administration skills including computer application of spreadsheets, project management and word processingAbility to exercise decision making and judgement in a logical, balanced, lawful and accountable mannerAbility to read and take off quantities from civil engineering scaled plans, and interprets information from development documentationSound knowledge of occupational health and safety principles and practices and an ability to promote and maintain a safe work environmentHigh level computer skills relating to the use of finance, planning and information provision softwareSound literacy skills relating to report writing and general correspondenceAll short listed candidates will be required to pass a pre employment medical including instant drug and alcohol testing on day of interview with us.   Australia - WA Perth CBD, Inner & Western Suburbs
